Abstract: The genetic heterogenity of field vole (Microtus arvalis [Pallas]) populations inhabiting reservation areas has been analysed by laboratory breeding experiments. From the variation of some morphological as well as anatomical traits it can be concluded that in these natural populations a great number of alleles existed. The estimated heritability for two morphological traits has the following values: h2 for tail-length 1.8-1.9 and h2 for the height of foramen occipitale 0.6.
