Abstract: Analysed were the correlations between the variation of the morphological traits and the geographical distribution of the different subspecies of V. ursinii. It could be shown that the highest level of specialization has been reached by the forms inhabiting up to date the ancestral range of the species. All the more primitive forms are distributed far from the ancestral range.
