Abstract: The results of systematical and taxonomical studies on oribatid mites are given. Two new suborders (Archoribatida, Euoribatida), supercohors (Parhyposomata, Holosomata) and cohors (Dichosomata, Euarthronota) are introduced in the modified system of the more primitive oribatid groups. In the families Phthiracaridae, Protoplophoridae and Epilohmanniidae 2 new genera and 1 subgenus respectively are erected (Archiphthiracarus gen. n., Grandjeanoplophora gen. n. and Sinolohmannia subgen. n.). Investigations of oribatids from soil samples collected in different parts of Hungary resulted in 7 new species.Subject: zoology
