Abstract: The author presents the first part of a catalogue of recent bird bones in the collections of the Hungarian Natural History Museum covering 30 species in six orders. The majority of the species are present in the Hungarian avifauna, but the collection also includes skeletons of birds from the zoological gardens or received as gifts and exchange specimens from other collections. The catalogue presents the main data for each specimen. It is designed not only for internal use and for researchers interested in bird osteology, but it also provides important data on the occurrence of these different bird species in Hungary during the 20th century. Keywords: Bird bones, collections, Hungarian Natural History Museum
