Abstract: Following the discovery of an early Cretaceous Anotylus fossil in the Yixian
Formation, (Beipiao City, Liaoning Province,NE China) displaying an interesting sexually
dimorphic feature, four extant species with the same characteristic are described. These
Neotropical Anotylus species have a modification of the anterior pronotal corners in males
and in addition to the modification observable in the fossil, also a strong enlargement of
the temples. The new species were mostly found in flight intercept traps, all but one represented
by a single male specimen each: Anotylus arellanoae sp. n. (Bolivia: Santa Cruz), A.
engeli sp. n. (Bolivia: Cochabamba), A. debae sp. n. (Ecuador: Zamora-Chinchipe), A.
deboeri sp. n. (Panama: Panamá and Chiriquí). Habitus, important morphological details
and male genitalia are illustrated for all species. With 67 figures. Keywords: new species, Neotropics, Anotylus, sexual dimorphism
