Abstract: The genus-group name Pseudoxyporus is currently of dubious status. Available
facts about the distinctness of the group are presented. The species in the Russian Far East
are reviewed based on examination of types and previously unstudied material, the three
names include the oldest one in the East Palearctic. Lectotype is designated for Oxyporus
dybowskii SOLSKY, 1871. The diagnostic value of the internal sclerites in the aedeagi is discussed.
A new species with peculiar colouration is described: Oxyporus (Pseudoxyporus)
tessellatus sp. n. (Yunnan, China). Habitus and male genitalia are illustrated for all species.
