Abstract: In the summers of 1979 and 1981 ten lakes and ponds were investigated in Hungary (Lake Balaton and some waters in its vicinity and sodic waters in the great Hungarian Plain). Forty-five species of Cladocera were encountered. For the first time the male of Scapholeberis erinaceus Daday, 1903 has been found; a description of it is given.
