Abstract: Methodological Diversity Studies with Diatoms of creek Dera, Hungary. - Pollution of a little creek with domestic sewage detected first in terms of the dominant algal species and of Shannon diversity. A simple new method LV (Largest Value) diversity estimator is proposed for the approximation of the "total diversity" of a population. Relation of LV, i.e. max (Hj"), to other estimators: LV > Hpop>HK>H was also studied.
