Abstract: The bryophytes collected in the Kőhát (1997) and Lápos (1998) mountains have been recorded. These bryologically neglected areas have provided some interesting data to the floristical knowledge of the Carpathians. The boreal elements are widespread here (like in the higher mountains of the SE Carpathians), and numerous arctic elements occur as well (e.g. Sphagnum cuspidatum, S. riparium, S. warnstorfii, Tayloria tenuis). The rare Sphagnum pylaesii is reported form the Carpathians for the first time. Other interesting species are Calypogeia fissa, Cololejeunea calcarea, Hygrohypnum eugyrium, Leucobryum juniperoideum, Plagiobryum zierii, Porella cordaeana and Radula lindenbergiana.
