Abstract: More than a hundred specimens of problematic or taxonomically re-evaluated taxa were revised in the Bryophyte Herbarium of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest (BP). As a result, three species (Orthotrichum alpestre, Tortella bambergeri s. str., T. pseudofragilis) can be added to the Serbian bryophyte flora and three species (Grimmia donniana, Orthotrichum philibertii, Pohlia sphagnicola) can be excluded so far. The presence of Lophozia longiflora s. str. is confirmed. The distribution of several taxa of conservation interest (e.g. Ulota bruchii or Philonotis taxa, severely threatened by climate change), and some other previously rather poorly known taxa in Serbia was clarified. Keywords: threatened species, rare species, bryophyte collection of HNHM, regionally new species
